Red wine - 75cl bottle - AOC Cahors
Area of production : AOC Cahors
Soil and climate : The vines of Château du Cèdre root in two different types of soil: The terroirs, composed of stony clay and limestone, give straight wines with fine tannins, while more powerful and dense wines come from soils composed of clay, sand and a large quantity of pebbles.
Grape varieties : 100% Malbec
Climate conditions : An excellent vintage. Spring started with nice higher than average temperatures and rather dry conditions. June was exceptionally sunny and allowed a perfect flowering, while July and August were full of sunshine and some rainfalls at the right moment. Weather conditions in September allowed a close to perfect maturation of the grapes.
Wine making: Grapes are hand picked and sorted. Harvest is fully destemmed. 40 days of fermentation and maceration in 500-litre oak vats, with regular punching down of the skin cap at the beginning of fermentation for extraction of colour and tannins.
Type of ageing: Malolactic fermentation is followed by 24 months of ripening in the same oak vats. Bottled without filtering.
Tasting notes: Staying loyal towards its evolution of recent years, the GC continues its quest for elegance and finesse. Delicious and tight, serious and harmonious - its bouquet will entertain your nose just as much as its dense and delicate structure will please your palate. It’s a wine for gastronomy, a wine for ageing, which will be as comfortable on your table, as in your cellar.
This high class wine may be enjoyed now (after decanting for ½ hour) or cellared for 15 to 20 years (Stored correctly (at 10/15°C and with an air moisture level of at least 70%).
